If you've explored this website and believe our expertise and approach is a good fit for you, please call or email to have a brief consultation to answer any preliminary questions you may have. We are happy to speak with you and provide information that will help you decide on your next step. Treatment will begin with an intake session—typically 1.5 hours long—in order to have a more detailed discussion about what prompted you to call and how we may be able to help.

We are not part of an insurance panel. Payment is due in full at the time of the session in the form of cash, check or credit card. You may be able to receive reimbursement for some or all of our fees through out-of-network benefits. This means that you will be provided with a receipt to send to your insurance company. The amount of reimbursement depends on your individual health insurance plan.

As clinical psychologists, we do not prescribe medication. However, if you want or need medication management, we regularly collaborate with prescribing doctors who can offer medication consultation.

School assessments are usually performed to determine whether a child qualifies for special education programs or therapies to enhance school performance. They focus on achievement and skills needed for academic success. Generally, they do not diagnose learning or behavior disorders caused by altered brain function or development.

What you tell your child about the evaluation or testing depends on their developmental age. For younger children, be simple and brief and relate your explanation to a problem that your child knows about such as “trouble with reading,” “problems following directions,” or “feeling upset.” Reassure your child that the testing involves no shots, but rather a bunch of activities and games that will help school go better or manage their feelings more effectively.

For older children/adolescents, it is also helpful to share that they will learn how they learn about their learning strengths and the best ways to study based on these identified strengths.
